ATRACTYLODIS RHIZOMA.

Definition: Atractylodes macrocephala is Atractylodes lancea (Thunb.) DC., a plant of Compositae. Or Atractylodes chinensis (DC.) Koidz. of Atractylodes macrocephala. Dry rhizome. Spring, autumn two seasons mining, remove sediment, dry, hit the fibrous root.

Solid quality, cross-section yellow-white or gray-white, scattered most orange-yellow or brown-red oil chamber, exposed for a long time, can precipitate white fine needle-like crystals. Qi Xiang is special, taste slightly sweet, symplectic, bitter. 

Atractylodes macrocephala is lumpy or nodular cylindrical, 4 cm long and 1~4cm in diameter. The surface is black and brown, except the outer skin is yellowish brown. The quality is loose, and the cross section is scattered with yellowish brown oil chamber. The aroma is light, spicy and bitter.

Most of the fibers are in bundles, long fusiform, about 40 μ m in diameter, the wall is very thick, wooded. This product is calculated according to the dried product, the content of Atractylodes macrocephala (C13H10O) should not be less than 0.30%.
